CHT Group to showcase innovative paper solutions at MIAC 2026

Visitors to booth C60 will have the opportunity to discover the company’s product portfolio for the tissue and packaging industries, including new products for the tissue and packaging industry; BIOTIKOS 100; sustainable barrier coatings; energy-saving enzyme technology; a stickies control programme.

MIAC is an international trade fair dedicated to the latest developments in the paper industry, with a particular focus on paper production, tissue manufacturing and converting technologies.

CHT GROUP positions itself as a partner in the development of sustainable products and solutions designed to support paper manufacturers in achieving their environmental objectives. These may include reducing energy and resource consumption, increasing recycling rates, lowering CO₂ emissions and using products based on natural raw materials to support the transition towards a circular economy.

The latest additions to CHT’s tissue and packaging portfolio include Yankee coating chemicals and sizing agents.

CHT YankPro Grip adhesive, YankPro Release and the QUIMEX 7827 modifier form a complete coating package for Yankee cylinders. The products are designed to ensure smooth tissue production by maintaining the correct balance between drying, timely sheet release and optimum creping performance.

CHT has also launched CHT SIZE C7, a sizing agent developed for size-press applications. Developed and manufactured by CHT Turkey, the product provides excellent water-barrier performance at low dosage levels and is compatible with a wide range of starches.

Clean water circuits are essential for fast, reliable and efficient paper production. Microbiological contamination may result in significant production downtime caused by the need for frequent cleaning. Implementing an effective and economically sustainable water treatment programme is therefore essential.

PFAS-free barrier coatings.

Conventional biocides commonly contain oxidising agents, isothiazolinones or DBNPA. Although these substances are well established in industrial water treatment, they may present hazards when they are not applied correctly. Furthermore, European legislation is progressively restricting the use of biocidal products.

With BIOTIKOS, CHT has recently developed an entirely new water treatment concept based on a probiotic approach. This sustainable technology offers an alternative to conventional treatment methods.

BIOTIKOS contains highly concentrated, naturally occurring and non-pathogenic bacteria. When introduced in sufficient quantities, these microorganisms displace unwanted slime-forming and odour-producing species. By replacing conventional biocides with this probiotic approach, paper manufacturers can maintain clean water circuits without using hazardous chemicals.

CHT will also present the latest generation of BIOLAY products, developed to meet stringent regulatory requirements, including the European Single-Use Plastics Directive, EU 2019/904, and the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, EU 2025/40.

BIOLAY provides high-performance grease and oil barriers for fast-food packaging applications. In addition to complying with the requirements of the Single-Use Plastics Directive, the product is completely free from synthetically manufactured compounds, biodegradable and free from fluorocarbons and PFAS.

The CHT-COAT product range also offers effective barrier performance against water, water vapour, oil, grease and mineral oil hydrocarbons, including MOSH and MOAH.

CHT Group

Sustainable water treatment with BIOTIKOS.

CHT Group is a globally active, foundation-owned specialty chemicals manufacturer headquartered in Tübingen, Germany. The company supplies sustainable chemical solutions to numerous industrial sectors and operates internationally with approximately 2,500 employees and 26 production sites.

In the 2025 financial year, CHT Group generated consolidated revenue of €572 million. CHT Group is certified in accordance with international standards and is committed to sustainability and social responsibility. The company will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2028.

At a time of high energy costs, CHT’s ZIAX enzyme technology can help paper manufacturers significantly reduce refining energy, chemical, fibre and water consumption. These high-performance biocatalysts promote gentle fibre fibrillation, making it possible to achieve increased paper strength. Over a period of ten years, CHT has developed several generations of enzymes with properties tailored to specific paper and pulp grades.

CHT enzymes can be used to treat different fibre raw materials and improve fibrillation while maintaining low water retention and avoiding excessive mechanical stress on the fibres.

Depending on the application, the technology can provide several advantages, including faster drainage, reduced mechanical refining energy requirements and improved mechanical properties of paper and board. CHT enzymes can be applied in both packaging and tissue mills processing virgin or recycled fibres.

CHT’s new TUXOL PSR-70 DE felt and wire treatment agent, supported by the CHT-FIX range of fixatives, has been developed to improve production efficiency. When used in combination with the dispersing and disaggregation auxiliaries of the IMEX range, the system can reduce production downtime caused by stickies-related problems. The programme is designed to maximise fibre yield, extend felt and wire service life and significantly reduce the number of web breaks.

The solutions recently developed by CHT Group are intended to support the transition from fossil-based production models towards a sustainable circular economy.
