Screening and filtration components for efficient pulp and paper production

In paper production, the performance of screening and filtration components has a direct impact on the quality of the end product and on process continuity.

With over 100 years of experience in the design and manufacture of metal components for a wide range of industrial applications, Costacurta S.p.A. – VICO is an established Italian company that has developed a comprehensive range of screening, filtration and separation solutions for pulp and paper.

The portfolio includes drilled, slotted, and punched plates and wedge wire screens, covering applications from pulping to water treatment.

Costacurta’s components are used in a wide variety of equipment, from screw presses and pulpers to vibrating and gravity screens, as well as pressure screens and coating filters.

What distinguishes Costacurta’s screening and filtration components is their high and consistent quality, achieved through meticulous attention to every stage of the production process. This uncompromising approach ensures compliance with strict manufacturing tolerances, superior mechanical performance and proven long-term reliability, all essential for delivering consistent results and minimizing plant downtime.

As a manufacturer of all the filtering elements used in the final product, including wire meshes, drilled, punched and laser-slotted plates and wedge wire screens, Costacurta combines decades of manufacturing experience with an in-depth knowledge of these components and their applications. This expertise helps customers identify the most effective solution for their specific process conditions and performance targets.

In screw presses, for example, screen baskets play a crucial role in dewatering efficiency. Perforated plates, typically manufactured with hole diameters between 1 and 6 mm, often provide the required filtration efficiency and mechanical resistance while meeting target costs. When much finer openings are required, down to 100 microns, wedge wire solutions become the preferred, and often most viable, option.

A further advantage for customers is Costacurta’s expertise and ability to develop customized component solutions for specific process and application requirements.

Customized solutions may include flanges, reinforcement elements such as rings and side bars, and unconventional materials. At the same time, evolving application requirements are driving new developments in the production process aimed at manufacturing perforated plates with hole diameters below 0.5 mm. Costacurta is currently adopting new perforation technologies that enable smaller hole diameters to be achieved without compromising manufacturing quality.

COSTACURTA will exhibit at MIAC in Lucca, Italy, from 7 to 9 October at Pavilion C, Stand 24. Visitors looking to improve filtration performance or address specific process challenges will be able to meet the Technical Sales team at the show to discuss their requirements and identify the most effective solution.
