by: Paolo Baldaccini – President, Tecno Paper
Today, the company can count on solid experience in the study, design, production, installation and servicing of machinery for paper production and converting.
Tecno Paper relies on a team of 90 employees, most of whom are technicians and engineers specialized in the mechanical, electrical, software, automation, and paper sectors. Almost two-thirds of the team work daily in the field, in paper mills and converting plants, engaged in maintenance and service activities.
Tecno Paper is mainly focused on winding system technology. The company’s core business is the production and retrofit of slitter winders for tissue, nonwoven, packaging paper, paper and board, coated paper and specialty paper, as well as pope reels, paper machine sections and stock preparation components.

Machines are installed in various countries all over the world, achieving high results in terms of productivity, efficiency and reliability – the outcome of constant effort, dedication, and sometimes sacrifices by the entire team.
The main services and retrofits are the following:
- On-site technical surveys.
- Study, engineering and project design
- Machine safety analysis and CE certification (or other international standards).
- Machine efficiency optimization.
- On-site installation, maintenance and refurbishment.
- Machine alignment services.
- Reconstruction and upgrade of existing paper machinery.
Today, the company is organized into different operational areas: electrical and mechanical design, a production department with electrical and mechanical workshops, a service team of technicians for installation and start-up, and software engineers to guarantee continuous after-sales service.

The technical solutions are tailored and based on dialogue with the client, aiming to identify the most suitable configuration for production needs. Tecno Paper’s range of slitter winders is constantly updated, with improvements and specific measures to meet market demands.
For example, the latest innovations introduced on the slitter winders for finished strip roll sets have brought a remarkable improvement in performance compared to previous versions. Specifically, on winders for paper and board – even for heavy grades – significant results have been achieved thanks to the integration of several automation systems across all operating phases.
The adopted solutions
Standard equipment: automatic centering system of the parent roll on the unwinder; automatic empty spool removal and parking system; tangential slitting unit with a minimum cut of 50 mm; automatic paper cross-cutting system; automatic core loading system; automatic finished roll changeover.
Special equipment on request: automatic slitting positioning system with integrated dust removal kit; motorized core chucks for high basis weight papers; core set loading with precision positioning (minimum 50 mm); automatic strip closure system on cores and finished rolls; core chucks with automatic precision positioning; inkjet printing systems on finished roll sets directly on the unloading table (min. 50 mm); spreading systems of finished rolls directly on the unloading table (min. 50 mm).

After these first twenty years, which have passed so quickly, it has become increasingly important to rely on a motivated and prepared team that holds the company’s future at heart.
Technical skills, as well as human skills, are fundamental: the former are built over time and through training, the latter are shaped by experience, character and relationships. In a company like Tecno Paper, there are no standardized production lines. Every solution is unique, and people’s contribution is at the core of everything.
Attention, listening, the ability to interpret the client’s requests, and the ability to anticipate any issues with effective responses are essential. The quality of people, both technical and human, is the most valuable resource. They are the future of the company, as well as the passion for paper, which has never faded.
