For more than 60 years, Giancol has developed adhesive solutions for industrial applications, building its growth on customer-focused innovation, proprietary technologies and consolidated manufacturing expertise. Today, the company ranks among the leading adhesive manufacturers in Italy and Europe, supplying industries including packaging, converting, tissue and towel production, bookbinding, upholstered furniture, footwear and leather goods, with an annual production capacity exceeding 50,000 tonnes.
One of Giancol’s principal distinguishing features is its proprietary polymerisation plant, which allows customized formulations to be developed around the specific requirements of each customer. Both water-based and hot-melt adhesives are manufactured through highly automated systems incorporating internally developed PLC technologies, ensuring process control, consistent product quality and complete traceability.
Alongside manufacturing excellence, sustainability has become an integral part of the company’s strategy, supported by investments in renewable energy, wastewater treatment, packaging recovery and Industry 4.0 process management.
Within the converting industry, GIANCOL has created a comprehensive portfolio of adhesives specifically engineered to combine efficient machine runnability with the bonding performance required by modern tissue production. The company’s R&D, Application and Product Safety teams work in close coordination to identify innovative raw materials with a reduced environmental impact, while preserving the performance levels demanded by high-speed converting processes.
Extensive laboratory testing enables both adhesive characteristics and machine performance to be optimized under real operating conditions. This approach has resulted in a range of products compliant with the principal international regulations governing food-contact applications, including FDA requirements. Several solutions have also obtained Cradle to Cradle® certification, supporting the sustainability targets increasingly pursued by tissue manufacturers.
Among the company’s flagship products, GIANDEX BN/806 is a significant example of innovation in tissue lamination. Developed for high-performance tissue converting applications, the adhesive combines strong inter-ply bonding with excellent machine cleanliness and operating stability.
Even at high production speeds, the product limits adhesive build-up, reducing downtime and helping converters achieve higher productivity.
An additional advantage is its particularly high dilution capacity, with ratios of up to 1:8. This enables converters to reduce adhesive consumption and operating costs while maintaining reliable bonding performance across different tissue grades and structures, including complex products manufactured from recycled fibres.
The product is suitable for food-contact applications and supports more sustainable manufacturing processes through its Cradle to Cradle® approval.

A further example of Giancol’s application-oriented approach is GIANCOLVIL CL/100, developed for the production of paper cores and spiral-wound tubes. Designed for operating speeds of up to 140 m/min, the adhesive provides an effective balance between rapid setting, wet tack and process stability. Its rheological properties ensure smooth application on conventional roller systems, contact applicators and modern slot-coating equipment.
Unlike traditional filled formulations, GIANCOLVIL CL/100 consists entirely of active bonding components, maximizing adhesive efficiency while improving machine cleanliness. The product is free from boric acid, highly water-dispersible in accordance with EN 1720 requirements, compliant with FDA and BfR regulations and Cradle to Cradle Approved®, making it particularly suitable for manufacturers seeking to combine performance with sustainability.
The tissue and towel portfolio is completed with a full range of adhesives for core winding, pick-up, lamination and tail sealing. Proprietary core-winding formulations free from boric acid and plasticizers provide excellent adhesion and water dispersibility while supporting the high operating speeds of modern tissue converting lines.
Complementary pick-up and tail-sealing products offer high wet tack, clean release properties and reduced machine contamination, contributing to greater production efficiency.
Through the integration of proprietary polymer technologies, advanced manufacturing capabilities, regulatory expertise and continuous product development, Giancol continues to support converters with adhesive solutions designed to improve productivity, product quality and environmental performance.
After six decades of innovation, the company’s objective remains unchanged: developing adhesive technologies capable of creating value throughout the converting process while responding to the evolving requirements of the global tissue industry.
