EIL, an industrial electromechanical company based in Lucca, was founded over forty years ago and has achieved significant growth, becoming a recognized leader in providing customized electrification and automation solutions for industrial machinery, with specific expertise in the paper industry.
At the same time, over forty years ago, another group of people began their journey in one of the most renowned tissue paper machine manufacturers in the world. In 2020, these two groups merged and EIL ReplusTissue was born.
It was a company created with the strong will of its founders who, with their deep market experience and after witnessing the changes in the industry, understood the growing limitations that were increasingly penalizing more and more producers: the lack of flexibility and proximity of the players who design and develop tissue paper production plants.
“This is how we were born, united by a vocation: to ensure quality and performance starting from the conditions and needs of our customers, accompanying them in every phase of their investment” – the company says.
A new company with a clear vision: to bring back that human element, that relationship, close dialogue and presence for the customer that the industry was losing due to acquisitions by large international industrial groups and the vicissitudes of other companies in the sector. Ipso facto: the market understood this immediately, reacted and gave its trust. How could it have been otherwise?
A single company, close to its clients, capable of designing and fully realizing a production plant. Various areas of expertise are integrated in total synergy: mechanical design, air and steam systems and electrical design are developed together in comprehensive projects, taking into account both project feasibility and sustainability, as well as the specific performances required.
A working method that always includes the customer: from preliminary analyses to the design and construction phases and even to support and maintenance after commissioning. And trust was evident, solid and inevitable.
A report on the first 4 years
To date, they have already designed and built three complete plants. For Papelera Reyes, they installed and started up its first and most high-performance plant, 2000 m/ min and 130 tons/day, based on a completely tailor-made design, including a cogeneration plant with ReEnergy+ technology.
The client chose to implement it after visiting to see the pre-assembly at its facility in the heart of the Lucca tissue valley. Subsequently, they acquired orders for two plants, both with machines designed for 1800 m/min and 90 tons/day.
The first, for the Mexican producer Fabrica de Papel Potosi, is currently in the final assembly phase and covers everything from machine feeding system to the pope reel, including all auxiliary systems. The second, for another major Mexican converter, is a complete plant from stock preparation to the rewinder, prepared for integration with cogeneration. Each of the three plants is completed with electrification and automation systems that were synergistically designed with the mechanical, process and aerothermal parts.
In the same period, they have designed and developed as many as five major rebuilds. For Cartiera di Capostrada, they provided new hoods and a new steel Yankee dryer along with a substantial modification of the air system, new Yankee doctors, a complete revamping of the stock preparation and a new rewinder.
For Cartiera di Pratolungo, modifications included the air system, new Yankee hoods, a new steel Yankee dryer, new Yankee doctors and a dust extraction system. For Cartiera San Lorenzo, they provided new hoods, air system modifications, a new steel Yankee dryer, new Yankee doctors and a complete revamping of the stock preparation.
All three revamps have led to significant performance improvements, with results that far exceeded expectations. For Industria Cartaria Fenili, they are about to provide a rebuild of the current tissue machine, which will be transformed from a plain wire to a Crescent Former. The supply will also include the new medium and low voltage plant as well as DCS upgrade.
For another major Latin American producer, they are designing the complete rebuild of a plant, which includes the approach flow system upgrade, new Yankee hoods, a new air system and the entire Crescent Former tissue machine, except for the existing Yankee cylinder and suction press, which will be reused. As with the complete plants, all the major rebuilds they have carried out so far are completed with customized electrification and automation.
At the same time, over these four years, they have developed numerous automation and electrification plants for Italian and foreign paper mills, produced and supplied 43 stainless steel suction press shells and provided electrical, mechanical, and air & steam maintenance services – with dedicated personnel both in Italy and abroad – to several well-established and well-known entities.
They never stop; they have numerous ongoing activities that they cannot yet discuss, but the growth they have experienced in these years certainly doesn’t stop. Indeed, the market is validating the choices made by these brave entrepreneurs. In a period of strong concentration of resources and offerings, with fewer and fewer players on the market, the decision to maintain a more measured profile, with great attention to specific needs, is evident from their union.
